SARA RAPOPORT was born and brought up in Croydon, South London. After graduating from Bristol University, where she studied languages, she spent periods of time working in France before returning to work as a teacher and to bring up a family. She now lives in the country with her husband, six grown-up children who come and go, and a menagerie which includes a goat, two donkeys, a tortoise, cats and numerous hens.
